RONGO UNIVERSITY ALUMNUS APPOINTED AS THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF YALF.
Rongo University congratulates Mr. Meshack Ngang’a on his appointment as the Secretary General of Young African Leaders Forum- YALF, a pan-African youth organization committed to empowering Africa’s young people to solve their own needs, advocate for the needs of others and participate actively in their societies.The founding President of YALF , Prince Ifoh appointed Mr. Meshack Ngangi to serve the African youths in the capacity of General Secretary on 18th April 2024.Before the appointment Mr. Ngangi was the Youth Advocate, YALF ambassador to Kenya where he exhibited passionate leadership and exemplary delivery of services for three years. As the Youth Advocate, YALF ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Ngangi voluntarily served at the communication department until his appointment as the YALF Secretary General.
Mr. Ngangi graduated from Rongo University in December, 2021 from the school of Information, Communication and Media Studies (INFOCOMS) with a first class Degree in Bachelor of Science in Communication and Media Studies , Public relations specialization. At the institution, he served in the RUSA office as the Academics representative and Campus representative leaving behind major contributions in the RUSA office.
According to Ngangi, who is also the students’ outreach coordinator in Africa, his new position as the YALF General Secretary has come with new roles such as coordinating YALF administrative activities across Africa, supervising of students’ YALF clubs across Africa, and promoting leadership and personal development by working closely with all YALF members.
To ensure YALF’s mission and Vision are effectively communicated, Mr. Ngangi is developing a memorandum of understanding with different Universities across Africa to embrace YALF clubs in learning institutions.”As the current General Secretary I am developing an MoU with different Universities which will be tailored to suit the situations in Africa,” said Ngangi. “In Kenya I will launch the first YALF club at Rongo University, my alma mater in October this year. I will work closely with the office of the dean of students to ensure this happens, “he added.
According to Ngangi, these clubs will be of help to all students because YALF, a non- governmental organization, is dedicated to educating and mentoring young African leaders for African bright future.Mr, Ngangi who currently works at the communication department in Co-operative University of Kenya, was brought up in one of the Children’s home in Kitui (Nyumbani Children’s home). He advices youths that no one should ever give up on their dream no matter how bad the situation is. He emphasizes that:” No one should ever be belittled by their humble background, we should always look at the projection of the future,”.
